Eeeeesports. Bandai Namco are back to announce the new year of competitive Tekken 7 with the Tekken World Tour. The 2018 season of the Tekken World Tour officially kicks off this month with the first event; Final Round 18 on March 16-18 being a Master level event for competitors looking for a strong start to the new season. The big changes to the tour format for this year is the unified leaderboards which replace the region locked leaderboards from last year, the location of grand finals event which is now set to take place in Amsterdam in the Netherlands and 20 top placers from the leaderboards qualifying for the TWT Grand Finals (up from the previous 16). Strongstyle returns this weekend in Northern California! The sixth Strongstyle event sees players from Europe, Japan, Korea fly into San Jose, California to take on the American competition from all over the country. Tekken 7 is being featured as the main tournament event alongside side tournaments for Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection and Tekken Ball Mode from Tekken 3. If you're a Tekken player, this event is not one to miss. Have no worries if you can't make it there however, for this occasion, StrongStyle is being streamed live over on Team Spooky's Twitch channel. Word came in from the Evo reveal announcement stream that Tekken 7 is returning as a main tournament game. Alongside Tekken 7, EVO will also feature Smash 4, Street Fighter V, Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2, Injustice 2, Smash Melee & DragonBall FighterZ. Mr Wiz and MarkMan were able to detail the five games from this lineup being featured at the Sunday Mandalay Bay arena with Tekken 7, Guilty Gear, Melee, DragonBall & Street Fighter V but the line-up order on the day is yet to be decided. If you're a competitive Tekken player, the road to Evo this year begins now with EVO crowning the best Tekken player in the world for the year. EVO 2018 will be taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 3-5, 2018.

The SoulCalibur & Tekken 7 Producer Motohiro Okubo made an appearance during the Eastern Japanese online qualifiers for their national Tekken 7 tournament and relayed some news for Soul Calibur fans going to EVO Japan. The first of which is that Bandai Namco are planning to have playable builds of Soul Calibur 6 for people to try out at the event and it marks the first time the public will be given access to the new game. It wasn't disclosed what build the game will be (If it is still the Mitsurugi/Sophita build for instance) but more details about the playable SC6 demo is said to be coming at a later date. Next bit of news was bringing up that Evo Japan is having a side tournament for Soul Calibur V, the previous SC game on the PS3 & X360. Registration for that side tournament are now open so sign-up if you happen to be over there. EVO Japan marks a small resurgence of Soul Calibur activity so perhaps we might even see some new news or announcements about the series made at the event. If you want to check out the VOD for the announcement segment, you can find it below. EVO Japan is taking place in Akihabara, Japan on January 26th-28th, 2018.
