Soul Calibur 5 and TTT2u Make it to SBO

For those of you who don't know, SBO is Japan's equivalent to Evolution. However, up until this year SBO (Tougeki) has strictly included arcade games only. It has just been announced that both Soul Calibur 5 and TTT2u will be at SBO this year. This is bitter sweet news to me. On the one hand it ads legitimacy to SC5, but on the other, it's a sign that arcades are struggling all over the world. I'd like to focus on the positive here and hope that now that SBO is acknowledging SC5, the game will be taken more seriously world wide. Furthermore, there are a total of three 3D fighting games in the lineup this year. SC5, VF5 and TTT2u at one tournament? Sick! The full list of games can be found below.

  • Aquapazza (2 on 2)
  • Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (1 on 1)
  • Street Fighter III 3rd Strike (3 on 3)
  • Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Ver.2012 (3 on 3)
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited (2 on 2)
  • Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (3 on 3)
  • Soulcalibur V (1 on 1)
  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (1 on 1)

What is really AMAZING is that there is a game that has been in the top in the fighting game community for 13 years!! I speak of course of Streetfighter III 3rd strike. You just gotta respect that!!!

Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Japanese people are the luckiest people in the world!! So many archades, so many fighting games. They get everything early. Too good.

Aris or anyone else for that matter know if TTT2U will be played by 1 human or 2 human teams.

What I mean is that, as far as I know the matches will all be 2v2 however, with SBO the organisers tend to do team tournaments from time to time.

So does that mean that, TTT2U will have 1 human play 2 characters against their human opponent, who also is using 2 characters, If one human loses the match and steps off the machine his human team mate sits down and picks his 2 characters to continue the bout until a team of 2 humans is defeated..

I have been told that there is no PAIR PLAY MODE for the arcade version of TTT2U so that rules out that option.

So the 2 on 2 that Aris posted, is that character 2 v 2 or teams of 2 humans (4 characters) v 2 humans (4 characters)?

if you watch the other games i am pretty sure its the numbers of humans (like tekken crash 3on3 but this is 2on2)

but again i just want to know if they can play 1vs2 because so many player (even me) said this isnt well balanced

i'm sorry to sc5 and ttt2u, but the real news here is that 3s is back in tougeki, and that's great.

Don't want to spoil the mood but just want to interject that people should take things with a little bit more grain of salt - being a SBO game doesn't mean automatically that the game is top notch quality or a stamp of can be seen in black/white as an approval from a higher source. SBO has featured games such as Capcom fighting Jam, Hokuto no Ken, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars and is pretty heavy on the anime-flavor-of-the-month games. There has been a LOT of shit on SBO during the years.

I do however enjoy that they experiment and try things and to be honest if they kept on being arcade only this SBO would be much less fun. Worth to notice is the lack of SFxT on the list also.
