A more informed explanation of the Mortal Kombat system based on what I've learned from the demo so far.

Hey look everyone Reality just proved to us all how much of an immature, asshole of an imbecilic unintelligent douche he really is. You can me a psychopath let you are a stalker and went through the motions of trying to discover more dirt on someone because they disagree with them on a gaming message board. Funny that you go by Reality, when your clearly out of fucking step with it. Really how immature and really just plain nuts do you have to be to do what you did, really, I weep for your parents that had to give birth to and raise such a sad sack of human excrement. Oh no, I am honest on a dating site and actually want people to understand me and things I have been through instead of bring baggage into an relationship and dishonesty. Fucking sue me you white trailer park trash. Basically I am done responding to you. You have proven with this step that your not worth anyone dealing with and that your vastly too immature for any of us here to respond too. Basically your below everyone of us who have posted here, and too respond to you is to devolve down to the same level of vile filth that you are.
But tell me how you really feel? I'm sorry but knowing who you're talking to or even debating with is a natural thing. It's not my fault that you're so dumb that a quick google on your name finds you on a datingsite first page. I was looking for mortal kombat material or forums where you were - basicly just mortal kombat forums in general. I mean my god man, you really need help. Thanks for proving my point by the way about your anger issues and crazystreak. I remember when you started of on this site acting offended over the language Aris used in his demo review - good times!
May you have a wonderful life
/Reality (Fatality out!)
Oh yeah, calling me "white piece of trailerpark trash" is bigotry, once again something you accused others of. You must be a real catch for the ladies with your page. Gotten a lot of responses? Who wouldn't want someone who's so cool he eats doritos while watching brainsplatter on the pavement after all?
Now, carry on with ACTUAL discussion of MK - don't mind me and Mental75.
And why do I need help exactly. Pin point one way. Why cause I feel uncomfortable about being around people? Well guess what, while you were sitting at home safe, I was in Iraq getting shot at, blown up, and watch friends die. Its called PTSD, quite a few now have it. Oh no, I am desensitized to violence and seeing a dead body doesn't faze me any longer. It is a work related hazard. Obviously I am from a far darker background than you are and have seen and done things that clearly you cannot fathom and as such clearly have no bearing on to cal one a psychopath. If you cannot understand what someone has gone through, its best that you just stay mum on it. Do I need help, no more than anyone else in my shoes does and yes I might be a bit aggressive but you know what, in my line of work that is an needed element and its one that keeps you alive. Do I have anger issues, I don't think you could find one person that does me that would say I do, since I have never had an issue at all in the real world with anyone nor have I ever acted in an aggressive manner outside combat or on the job where it was needed.
As to being stupid because a quick google search found me, sorry but I have never had an issue with stalkers trying to stalk me online before until now, and yes Reality you are a stalker. There is simply no other excuse out there that would provoke someone to track another down, in order to dig up dirt online on them unless they are a stalker. I mean really, youir quick to say how crazy and emotional the MK community is yet here you are trying to dig up dirt on someone who you disagree with from that community out of spite. What do you really think that tells us about the Tekken community for one of its members to behave in such an manner. Do you not realize just how bad you made that community look. You can say what you want about me in regards to how I make the MK community look, but I did not resort to personal attacks nor did I try to dig up crap on anyone here. What you did is a bizarrely cheap over reaction, let you call be aggressive and with anger issues. This is a clear example of an spade calling a spade here dude, no way to weasel out of that one.
Let me say, before I start, that I've never played any MK for more than 5 minutes (mainly 'cause I never owned any of them), but a few things:
-I'm not seeing the big deal with the meter; weird, a bit, yeah, but the logic seems to be not that of actively rewarding you for unsuccessfully striking, but of passively punishing the other guy for turtling. A narrow but deep difference, I'd say.
-I'd like to know precisely when you're able to activate the Breaker moves - can you do so during any combo, at any time? I wish I knew exactly what constituted a combo here, but I don't, so I won't say more.
-Has anyone here figured out exactly how big a difference switching stances makes with combos as the game stands now? Or any educated guesses about how integral or unimportant a function it would be, maybe based on previous MKs or something?
Yes Suna, Breakers may be initiated at any point within the combo. As to what defines a combo in the new MK, it seems to be any unblockable succession of hits.
As to switching stances, honestly no one has discern any differences yet at least in the demo, which could just been that in the retail version they play a part but not in the demo. In past MK games, well at least the 3D ones you could change styles which gave your fighter two very different stances with different move sets, but based on what we have seen in this game thyat is not the case at all making the stances a mystery.
Can't wait till this pointless debate gets to 10 pages!!! Tekken 4 tha Win!!
Jesus Christ Reality a background check damn a bit much maybe lol?
i came back after my exam and i look at the background check...and i was like...whahahah wowow. and this "I was in Iraq getting shot at, blown up, and watch friends die."
i am not sure if troll or internet tough guy...i am going to humour you all and say i am a navy seal with 15 years of experience and my .. i dont' know any more lol sorry i dont' know any more...
I am not trolling, I am in the Military. Ask Reality, he can tell you. He sure as hell dug into my past enough to verify that fact.
ok then. i believe. but i just saying sorry by "i am more darker then you think thing" just does not fly so well on the net man. its just seems tacky. no offense. just is.
i say...lets all wait...when the game come out if it sucks or not; i say don't really matter as long you/or anyone for that matter kick ass and win in it.
Military or not can't wait to see MK get K.O.ed at evo! Stick to the topic at hand. Mentho I want to know why you feel that MK is a strong competitor in the foghting game genre? What are its strong points that the franchise brings to fighters? And why are you trolling? Yes I do not respect the MK community for many reasons. Yes I do not give a fuck!
Well I think MK is a strong contender for several reason.
First off the game is much easier to get into than other Fighting game series and to find enjoyment in than others for several reasons. First off in my opinion its characters are more identifiable and recognizable than those in the other series bare Street Fighter. Not only that but they are just plain cooler. I mean really, I love the fighting system of Tekken but I just cannot get into the series because I find the characters so bland. Obviously I expect many of you to disagree, but really the guys in tekken just aren't that good IMO.
Secondly is the ease of play. Yes games like SF, Tekken, VF, etc are deeper but at the same time this works against them. These series aren't really bringing much in the way of new fans, most have tried these games and found them too intricate for them to really get into and this issue is exemplified once they get online and get destroyed. That is an important issue I think many over look, these games are just to intimidating for many a new player. MK is IMO a good middle ground game. The game is simple enough for new players to be at ease learning it, while deep enough for them to feel as if they are accomplishing something as they learn how to link moves and combos together. This in turn brings in new players into the fighting genre, because as they get into MK they start to feel froggy enough to try other series. I will not lie, I graduated from MK into the SNK fighters, and I move to them due to the fact that mastering MK2 and UMK3 made be feel cocky enough to try other fighters.
Along these lines, I feel that MK, especially the new one are like the Call of Duty of the fighting world. MK is getting outrageous hype in the press an on gaming boards and it will feature a heavy marketing push. Throw in the push from retailers, you can see where I am coming from. at this point, I think you have to be foolish to not think that MK is going to sell better than any other fighter this gen. Preorders alone are a good indicator that it will be. And this will once again help the fighting genre, the genre needs a new break-out hit to jump start the fanbase again. Look at how well games like Tekken did in the PSone days, MK could bring fighters to that level again and I think most of you know that. Gaming is dominated by casuals now and they dictate the direction of the industry. MK is a game that will see much love among that base, and that can only help see more quality fighters come home.
OK...but would you agree that a fighting game that has more depth as well as a deeper fighting system with an extremely competetive tournament scene, is way more successful than a game that fell off years ago? Totally abandoned the arcade. Where patches would be added to the game to balance it out before being ported to console? Tekken is a fighter that takes skill to win. Any player can be successfull with any character in this game if they put in the hard work and dedication to get better. All characters can be played in a veriety of different ways. You can pretty much define your self as a skilled player by your playstyle of that character. Answer that.
Well it depends on what your definition of Success means, is Tekken a better fighting game competitive wise. At the same time I would not say that MK fell off at all, the fact that everyone to comes out still sells Millions is evident of that. Even MK Vs. DC which I agree was crap did really well. As to Tekken taking skill to win, well that is true of any Fighter though isn't it. I am sure that if me and aris where to play MK together I would beat him pretty easily, since I have been playing the series forever and can already do all those 62% combos with Scorpion. Is it the same level of skill need to be competitive as in Tekken, with past MKs I would easily say no but with this one who really knows. The demo is ages old and doesn't feature the new revisions, and Boon did bring in competive Tekken and SF players to fix balance issues and for added input. So right now, really MK is an unknown property since non of us really know how competive it will be. I do know that some Evo guys over on shoryuken.com have played the most recent build and found it Evo worthy and pretty deep, so I do have hope.
Gee, you think you'd body Aris at MK when he said about 60 times in his videos that he's a total MK novice?
And as has been stated many times before, MK got to EVO because NRS gave the monies to Mr. Wizard.
Tons of frustrated MK lovers in Youtube comment, even after he explained why he is comparing MK to SF. Way to go.
Charlie Sheen= Winning!
... Stop crying over 1 persons perspective haters. We're all entitled to our opinions but spamming the shit out of a board repeating the same shit in a new post is garbage. Hey... if you hated his video at least admire his nice fuckin TV!
Been playing this a lot with a friend the last couple of days. So far, it's broken but very fun. Hopefully the final version is balanced better. The meter building (apart from the first hit, 1 bar nonsense) is ok. Combo breakers actually seem useful to me because it seems this game is very momentum based and it can be hard to stop an offense with the block button functionality and chip damage. This game would be a lot different if they just opted for the hold back to block scheme. I think a reset can often be all you need to turn the tide of the battle.
X rays do a bit much damage. (except for sub Zero for some reason) but it sux there is zero execution to do them, there should be some kind of window for failure
The last time I played MK was MK: Deception. I liked the first 3 though. I have the first 3 for my PSP which I play sometimes. Kabal is my favorite.
