A more informed explanation of the Mortal Kombat system based on what I've learned from the demo so far.

Despite the positive review, I can't help but be off-put by the tone of Aris' words/voice in this video when he says the developer should cater to him or something to that effect. Strange since I've been listening to ATP for quite a while now (since last year) and this is the first time this has happened to me.
Lurker, when Aris said that the dev should cater to him, he meant catering to new players. He was using himself as an example. Making a game accessible to new players is key in getting the game off its feet, and hitting the ground running, right from the start.
Way to represent the KO community Methos. jSYK the Tekken and SF Community don't need to show rep cause they are obviously the best fighting games on the market (can be argued) our shit seeks so much we get in trouble for prostitution

Very different response compared to the one in ATP's Youtube channel.
Jesus Christ at some of the reactions, I had no idea the MK community was so damn sensitive.
They are not all like that though, as you can see by following L_Z_N's link, but then we have shit like "LOL @ him giving a review based on "Beginner" settings."
I mean come on...
Seems like several people in the MK forums are now mistaking Aris as a SF player.
Some of you are really sad for talking shit to the MK community, have some respect im sure they do toward Tekken and SF.
It seemes like allot of ppl hate on this game cause it's the cool thing to do. I know ill be playing this it lookes good to me so far.

Why is it weird that characters don't turn around automatically when changing sides? That's the way it works in Tekken too, or is it a question of some 2D game standard?

I know Ed Boon has confirmed that this demo is one of the very very first builds made and many many changes including inputs commands have been changed. Also how you gain and how much you gain the supermeter. So the gameplay is going to be different in the final version and that is a good thing! Because the supermeter is very hard to fill up. I think it is three ways of filling it up:
1. Having your normals blocked
2. Taking damage
3. Specials (Whiff, hit, or block)
To me MK9 is making more sense than any other fighting game!
Poeple complain that they don’t gain any combometer when they attack an opponent and he eats the hit. The combometer only builds if the opponent blocks the hit.
Of course it should be that way! If a player is dominating and is really good and he attacks and you get hit, and if he would gain combometer by it, you know you are fucked! Then suddenly he is doing specials, x-rays and whatnot and you are dead.
I hate those games where you can’t even breathe and people that are good get rewarded for hitting. Matches would end quick and people are getting better and better in doing long combos.
The best deal is, like in MK9, that the person getting hit builds combo so he then can perform a combobreaker or come back in the match with a special or x-ray move. It is a clever way of balancing the field. One has a chance to survive and level the playing field a bit.
A player builds combometer when opponent blocks the hit. That’s brilliant way to avoid turtling! Then you can mix up with unblockables or special or whatever. So I’ll say it again, at least to me MK9 is making more sense than any other fighting game out there! And I can’t wait for the final build and when the game is out I’m gonna play the hell out of it!!
So Aris, what don’t you get about why the combometer is the way it is?? This way of builing combometer is the only one that actually makes sense in order to create a balanced fighter!!!

@Loldong; as I have stated before; not everybody like the way you like to play a game! I personally can’t stand a game where you have to twitch back and forth and move around (your socalled spacing). That, for me and all my friends, is what makes a game boring to play. It’s a fighting game, I wanna fight and if someone does a 60% combo, now I have a chance to break it. Brilliant!! Killer Instinct back in the day did this and is highly appreciated fighting game!

All I've got to say is that previous MK's were dumb, it's community is dumb, KI is dumb and I almost chocked when you said it's highly appriciated, combo breakers are dumb and MK9 MAY be dumb. I really got to play the final product to say anything since that demo isn't even a latest build, which I'll again add is a very stupid move from the devs.
Oh what the hell, I'll secretly admit that UMK3 is kind of fun if you play it drunk. But would I play PLAY that game? Hell naw.
i just broke the game. it is unplayable for anyone who plays with me. i hope this broken shit stays in the final build. i am so pissed that this demo is a piece of shit that i had to get playstation plus for 3 months to play. so much for the hype. fuck you mk.
The comments on trmk are a bit confusing, reading those without watching Aris' video first makes it sound like he called it the worst fighting game ever made or something. I had no idea the MK community was so sensitive....
I'm looking forward to Aris' followup response to all the nonsense arguments being held right now..
oh my days.... as I said in my first posts I knew this would happen with interaction with the MK community. There are LOTS of voices of reason but it just gets drowned in the stupidity of "omg he put settings on easy?" fun doesn't it.

And you must be 10 years because everybody who ever played Killer Instinct talks about it with passion and respect. I think it is the fighting game most people want to be remade or built a sequel to.
This game looks like a great MK game. SF and MK r different not only because of how they play but who the players are. Remember MK was never the greatest fighting game. Just one of the few really awesome ones... The SF cabinet looked pretty empty once the MK one went in.
That datingsite post is 100% true. As I said, that he talks about his daughter in his posts here and how the only thing he got out of his marriage was his daughter in that datingpost confirms it. If you look at the MK forums he's got the military pictures there also etc. And yes it is comedy gold.
Rex: It's not unnecessary at all. What I'm trying to show is that the guy (Methos75) is a (borderline) lunatic. Why? Cause he's written that he came her looking to post constructive thoughts and only started getting aggressive cause we, the community here, were aggressive towards HIM. I'm saying, based on what I've seen of him - the discussion would have degraded to that point anyways cause of his very nature. If you search for his name and mortal kombat discussions you'll see that he's pretty happy with calling people idiots etc. Also so that people don't waste to much time in really caring about his points or thinking they've offended the MK community cause he's most probably not a normal representative (of sane people).
