Top Japanese Player Ryo's Impressions of the Mishima Characters in T7FR

Tekken 7 Fated Retribution has been out in arcades for about 2 weeks now and a general idea of which characters are on top are starting to settle in. Ryo (aka Deku) recently posted his impressions of the Mishima characters in the game and I'd say he's a good authority on the matter. They're brief impressions so don't expect anything lengthy or in detail but you can catch his quick thoughts over on his twitter. I translated them below if you can't read the moonrunes.

At this point and time, my current Mishima impressions:

- Kazuya

He is now the best character among the Mishimas.

His Rage Drive is strong and has a lot of utility (It can be used as a whiff or block punish and also in combos for high damage.)

His Devil's Steel Pedal is still guaranteed on oki despite the change to it (Old b+4 which is now his ff+4)

Excluding his fc d/f+3+4 nerf to now being -12, he hasn't gotten weaker at all in Fated Retribution and can still played the same way as before.

- Heihachi

Without a doubt, Heihachi has been improved but like usual, his lows are still weak in the neutral game making it difficult to land his mids. The system buff to the sidesteps/sidewalking makes it a lot more harder for Heihachi to keep the opponent in check also.

The result of all this makes him sort of a 'Jack of all trade' type character. (He doesn't particularly excel in one area.)

The Rage Drive being really advantageous on block as a way to pressure the opponent and also used for high damaging combos makes it really good.

His combos now does a lot of damage.

- Devil Jin

The nerf to his Demon Steel Pedal (b+4) makes him clearly nerfed but his ground lasers (d+1+2) now having slower start-up and his Wraith Kick (u/f+4) now taking longer to be in jump status also hurt him.

His new Rage Drive (cd+4, 3+4) is no good because even if it's blocked, it is still launch punishable and there are still plenty of situations where a normal Hellsweep combo into a Rage Art will do more damage then the Rage Drive combo.

Among all the characters, Devil Jin's mobility is the fastest.

Note: If you're not aware, the nerf to Devil Jin's b+4 is that once again it no longers knocksdown on hit and also that it doesn't hit grounded opponents like it used to.
