Tekken 7 Pre-Launch Version Network Related Lag & Bugs

Update: Added another video and tweet to this piece.

Tekken 7 came out in Japanese arcades and there's been a huge amount of information on it slowly trickling out. The most funniest bits to hear about the game relates to the game's online functionality since for the time being, you're forced to play online if you want to play another person. Extreme cases of in-game lag have been taped with one really bad case of the game just straight up freezing on the players. There's also some slight lag being reported from players in different parts of Japan but I guess the purpose of a 'pre-launch' version of the game is to test the online connection quality. I imagine this might be a frustrating experience should you be a paying patron of an arcade but these should be ironed out in the game's full launch version coming in March.

Update: Video of two matches with in-game lag from Kuro Kuro's niconico stream.

Tweet: Namco Umeda Arcade has temporarily stopped people playing on Tekken 7 due to the lag.

What would be funny is if all the comments here is just the same person having discussions with himself/herself.

But back to topic!

I think Namco will manage to fix the online.
It will probably minimum be on the same level as TTT2 and Revolutions netcode.
And there could always be other external problems that causes these lags too, even in Japan with their amazing internet structure. If the arcade have mediocre internet connection and someone on the local network decides to download shit, it would lag for sure. Even with 100/100MBit a second it is possible to make games lag by using certain online services..

Is it just me or was online in the arcade a supremely stupid idea to begin with? Why invest in something like that when the average lifespan of an arcade fighter is about a year at best?

Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 3:52 PM | Unregistered Commenterohyes

WHAT??

I for one am totally shocked and appalled! Why would you get rid of the commentsection? Who does it hurt that I state my opinion about the game? I'm allowed to have a critical voice and not be a blind fanboy! What kind of stupid decision is it to make T7 not local multiplayer, but only online multiplayer? That's completely retarded!

@ SteparuTaru; I never said MKX will have a good netcode, I played both MK9 and Injustice and it was horrible, I know. I was talking about how every trailer makes you wanna play MKX more and more, while every trailer for Tekken makes you wanna commit harakiri.

Just look at the costumes and the new design of the both old and new characters in MKX. And then look at Tekken 7. Now don't tell me you think both games did equally good job at that. That's all I'm saying. This is not be being a huge cunt. I am though, but not now.

And I've said before and I'm saying it again; I'm NOT going to buy MKX because they're going to have microtransactions in the game. You have to pay to unlock characters, costumes, stages and so on. I only buy games where I get the full product right away, or as free DLC later.

@ Ashesfall; what is this talk about banning my posts? Come on, ya'll know I'm way too big to fail now. Most normal people enjoy the commentsection! This is all lighthearted fun and games! Calm down, son. You being so worked up only means you get trolled easily. That's bad on your behalf!

And you may even say I'm kind of a celebrity. Bronson knows (about) me, he even mentioned me in ATP Live. And now I've even got Aris, THE Aris to comment here. Hey Aris, I don't want to go to ban-city! (I love it when you put 'city' behind words! So funny!!)

Look, I make more traffic to the site, you make more money on ads. It's win-win! If there is some news, most people see it and don't even bother commenting. Then I comment and BOOM, suddenly there are 10-15 new comments by people who are either pissed off or just want to say their opinion too.

Shoutouts to MkMike, TexasGollum, xyz, Comrade Chef and Tekkenite for the support or whatever. You guys get the point! You understand what to take seriously in life and what to see as just 'joking around and having fun'. Videogames are not serious matter, nor should a commentsection about them be so!

THIS IS... weird. Like Im reading a creepypasta or something. While sodam and other korean players actually enjoying Tekken 7, even flew from korea to japan to play it... The western community is doing the opposite. Its literally a parody and satire at the same time. Im not making this up. The definition of these terms sums up what Im reading in these comments, and other tekken related messageboards and comments. The throw break reaction is a huge over-reaction same goes to this lag issue. And yet in the end the same players that complain about lag actually getting used to play which is worse, much much worse like MK9 and Injustice. What... what, what WHAT?!! Am I in twilight zone or something?

In a positive note, Lucky Chloe dance isnt based on street dancing, hip hop, jabberwokies or urban. Its pure jpop dance; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGq6d1LvZY0 No wonder I suddenly remember that music video after 5 years when I see Lucky Chloe gameplay for the first time.

Cunty McCunt for president...he's the only one making an otherwise dreary comment section fun

Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 6:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterCunty McCunt Fan

Cunty, love, you're comparing console release marketing (MKX) with Asian territory exclusive Arcade game marketing (TK7).
I'm sure you will get all your hype trailers once Namco starts talking about the console release. It's pointless comparing the 2 games now in that regard.
Also, I don't want to see Cunty banned! While I don't want to see him as president either, I do enjoy reading his comments, and he's one of the few posters to put some effort and thought into his comments. He might be wrong on several accounts, but who isn't, and it's very clear he deeply cares about this franchise.

just out of my head
not forget to mention that he hates an incomplete game that is not even close to hit the rest of the world ...
(i repeat myself, i highly doubt that t7 hits consoles in 2015)

aris calling us all out being a bitch(ATP) for defending the hobby we love is kinda rude

bad image is always bad for getting new people into the franchise and that is the ONLY reason why i post here.
i should handle it like aris but i cant - harada trys to handle all the time with this shitty haters i cant stand it in a way i cant ignore it.

its also like saying fifa15 is same like fifa14 or uncharted or forza or FUCKING any sequel.
i want that tekken plays like tekken, if i want a hole new game i would try out rise of incarnates as an example

yeah i am an hardcore tekken fanboy BUT i dont flame mr cunt i try to bring argues WHY i hate his comments and think its toxic for the hole franchise.

no wonder he didn't upload the latest ATP so far, instead that glitch video of 1886 video no one cared about. I'm posting about ATP episode 81 on his YouTube channel. ashesfall you're lucky to even watched that vid since I'm always watch his weekly vlog on his YouTube channel. I always missed his weekly vlog its the timezone.

Friday, February 20, 2015 at 4:34 AM | Unregistered Commentert3k4evo

@t3k
use this link.
i also almost never watch atp live because of the timezone
but you dont have to wait for youtube upload
http://www.twitch.tv/avoidingthepuddle/profile/past_broadcasts
aris separates his stream titles really good so its easy to find and see

Friday, February 20, 2015 at 4:52 AM | Unregistered CommenterAshesfall

Well, isn't this a pleasant surprise! Such heartwarming, loving posts make me all warm and fuzzy inside! See, we're all one big happy family here!

@ Ashesfall, what country are you in, since you mentioned the timezone? Germany or something? I still think you're wrong about the consolerelease. We'll probably see T7 in late 2015, or maybeas late as February-March 2016. But most likely Nov-Dec 2015. Mark my words!

And there's really no need for that many bugs even at this early stage. Namco should do better! You know it, I know it, stop making excuses! When they release (or pre-release or whatever the hell that's suppose to mean) a game, the product should still be both normally playable and rid of bugs. They can sure polish the game or tweak the frames and add new content like more characters, stages and costumes, sure, no problem. But the way T7 is playing as of now, it is unforgivable!

"We'll probably see T7 in late 2015, or maybeas late as February-March 2016."
like i said its far away so no need in marketing t7 now like mkx does what is released in april this year.

"it is unforgivable"!
i am ok with your opinion i also dont like every game but that is not the point.
for me t7 has enough to get the 7 in the name if i compare the transition between the franchise.
(new aesthetic bound to feel fresh in gameplay even for veterans, powercrush,rageart,wallboundflip,backroll/standup)
its all this little thinks that add up for a tekken i am really exciting about

oh and the big difference for mkx and tekken7 is the development.
on mkx side, we only see polished stuff the rest is not for public(the normal process)
but on tekken7 its like an open development we(the public) see the process about a game to its final product and complaining there about bugs is just pathetic ...

tell me one (big) game that dont have bugs and needs patches at release or after it...

my tipp for you (if this is even possible) take a step back from tekken and get into it again when the disc rotates in your console ..

ps: i am from germany

thanks for the link ashesfall. And sorry for the late reply, since Im using a nexus earlier. And ATP episode 81 is up now already on avoidingthepuddle channel. BTW since you posted the link, are the videos in that link automatically upload or the videos takes some time to upload? Like a hour before its uploaded? Its better than at least 5 hours of waiting for aris to upload his ATP live episodes.

Friday, February 20, 2015 at 7:00 AM | Unregistered Commentert3k4evo

as far is i know there is no automatic upload to youtube aris has to do it manual.
so he is doing a good job.
and if you cant wait like me, watch the twitch archive

@aris thanks for turning off the comment even you hate us all here in the comment section ^^

Friday, February 20, 2015 at 7:07 AM | Unregistered CommenterAshesfall

haha. Finally! BTW cunty, its not the comment section and the news why people visit the site. Its the video section in the right corner of this site. And the links posted by mods here like AAK and flying wonkey. When I visited this site I always click to "click to read more" right away and click the links. I didnt even read what the article says.

Friday, February 20, 2015 at 7:08 AM | Unregistered Commentert3k4evo

So the ones in the twitch archive are automatic then. Thanks ashesfall. I will visit that link when Im bored waiting for ATP live on youtube

Friday, February 20, 2015 at 7:12 AM | Unregistered Commentert3k4evo

It's too bad about the comments section. There was some actual meaningful discussion going on here amid the chaos. Too bad Cunty started to get an ego...mess with the bull and get the horns.
