Tekken 7: All 1+3 and 2+4 Throws can be broken with either 1 or 2
BY AAK ON Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 11:26PM
Thanks again to Wonkey's hard work scouring the interwebs we've found out that the throw system in Tekken has been significantly modified. You no longer have to pay attention to which hand your opponent used to generic grab you with to break it. You just need to hit any punch button. The unique command grabs like Giant Swing, Headbutt, etc. still require you to react, but the generic 1+3 & 2+4 throws no longer demand that you read which hand came out.

Throwbreaking is an acquired skill. You are not supposed to be good at it if you are just a beginner or super casual player.
"Broson showed this with his Ogre grabs in evo 2013"
@Luffy
No you're wrong. The reason is due to he was playing True Ogre. It's well known you can't see which hand he throws you with due to his size and character model which means it's harder to break his throws. It's also harder for an Ogre player to see which hand they're being thrown with but people still don't throw Ogre players as much as they should. Bronson implemented a lot of ducking most probably cause of this in his gameplay which in fact was brilliant.
Btw people need to remember that a reason why Tekken looks so ugly at newcomer and even mediumplayer level is due to the throwmechanic. Since newcomers can't break throws or SS well they prefer ducking or doing hopkicks.
This seem like a big buff for KING players in the non-hardcore league. It has little to no negative effect against the hardcore players so I don't see why anyone would get angry. You still have to watch the hands for command throws so if you are already good at that then keep to that tradition.
I say this has more negative effects on new players because they will get so use to this that once they face off against OGs they will not be able to break command throws.
Overall this bring in more gamers which will help the game grow strong.
awesome i love it. thank you namco
I hate this change on paper (don't know what else has changed in accordance with that like maybe the break window has shortened). I wanted them to improve the throw game not weaken it and to base more of the game on ground mixups and less on high risk high reward or even low risk high reward. I don't see how this benefits King?
In theory making a game more accessible is fine as long as you don't spoil what makes the game good for the existing fans.
This is indeed a welcome change! Everything that makes the game easier without taking away the mindgames is a good change! I see most people want the throws to be easier to break. It's a win-win for everybody! Making something easier will of course not make it worse or harder for good player. How is that even logic?
Yeah...Fuck throws in this game. A welcome change if true.
Stop it with the pretentious and overly difficult and convoluted mechanics.Look what hands they're using ? Who ever thought this was a good idea in the first place.
Two variations are enough....I doubt this is even true though.Harada loves excessive difficulty.
guys by the way this guy in facebook uploading lots of tekken7 videos in his channel. https://www.facebook.com/ThrowBackTokyo?fref=photo
J!N is pretending to be Tekkenite. Nice try, but you are too easy to read, son!
I have a feeling that this change will only make the system too easy for the advanced players, and not easy enough for the newbies. I think for newbies, it isn't so much that they can't see the arms, but that they just can't react to the throw outright. For advanced players, it will be a cinch of course, since command grabs are relatively easy to differentiate from regular throws.
Once again though, this appears to be Namco misunderstanding what made their game inaccessible to begin with. TTT2 was hard for newbies because of the character roster, and the steep learning curve to perform even routine juggles with tag assault. They needed to address the bigger issues. Little concessions like this will be totally lost on the newer players coming in, while pissing off the veterans.
@ohyes I for one react to the throws easily, but what I can't see and react to is what hand is being furthest out, and then throw that we change sides all time time fucks me even more, my eyes and brain just doesn't work that way, to distinguish these sort of things just doesn't work for me, believe me, I've tried. :P
For those of you saying that the way koreans play this game doesn't matter, then you don't take this game seriously and your one of those scrubs who play online and stay there. Thats fine with me. Tekken 6 had that balance to it. Despite its shitty net code, it keep the online noobs away from offline, acarde and tournament players. We could dig more into the games mechanics and be happy with that and the rest of you were happy happy spamming strings and throws online. No fuss. But these changes are universal and they affect both veterans and casual players.
@janxspiritt You have never been to any tournaments so you will never get to play any korean players. People like Aris and other tournamnet players train to play against the JDCRs, NIN, SAINT KNEE.. the people who are the best at this game. Don;t blame us if our standards go beyond online faggotry. And for you saying the way Koreans play this game doesn't affect... where do you think the term Norean backdash came from, why do you think most American tournament players now play on stick instead of pad... the all the Koreans doing.
@Cunty McCunt Tekkken 6 is the best selling tekken game and it was pretty difficulty to master just like any other tekken game before. so obviously your just blowing air out of your McCunt. and i can't say how funny it is to get life advice from a forum troll, did you get lost on your way to 4chan.. go be it off to some tranny porn and leave the word using to people who know what they are talking about.
@Reality My point is for someone like true ogre whose most threatning offese was his throws.. this changes pretty much takes away that catious factor from your opponent... Now if all you have to do is mash one of the punch buttons to break any of his throws.. there no reason to be afraid of ogre... therefore that character is pretty much useless now.
@ohyes gets exactly what im taking about... cheers mate
For those saying making throw breaking easier helps new players... new players don't even know what a throw break is.. but you can bet ur ass they know how to throw.. if anything this just make its easy to destroy those online noobs that throw all day. If you wanna make the game more accessible namco, how about a fucking comprehensive tutorial? how about not having to learn the game from level up your game and people like airs who make tutorials? how about not hiding characters moves that can only be found on tekken zaibatsu? how about a comprehensive frames and punish analysis.. you think new players won't appreciate knowing what shit they shouldn't randomly throw out.. where is that movement tutorial for beginner? Thats 90% of the game there. you can't intentionally make a game difficult to play and blame it on people who invest time to actually learn how to play it. Harada himself refuse to put a frame counter in practice because he says it will only help veteran plays.. well making stupid decision like that doesn't help new come who have no idea what frame are in the game but get punished for playing with that ignorance. How much sense does it make to create a game that has to be learnt outside that game?
you know what, fuck you NAMCO!!
@luffy i don't know why you keep saying that t6 is the best selling tekken game, when the best selling and more critically acclaimed is tekken 3. T3 is also the second best selling fighting game of all time, behind only super smash brawl.
It would be ideal if they decreased the startup on generic throws a bit to compensate for the easy break. I'm all for a more streamlined experience, the difficulty in Tekken in many regards is due to retaining archaic design choices.
Eh, doesn't this make throws virtually useless against anyone who isn't a slug?
Korean/Japanese players are invincible because they get the game a whole damn year earlier nothing more nothing less. I would love to see the competitive playing field with a universal release of this game but that's obviously not happening.
