From Tekken Tag 2 To Tekken Revolution - Character Facial Changes

Here's an interesting aesthetic change that appears in Tekken Revolution, the alteration of several female character's face from their original in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. While this isn't an exclusive all new thing in the series, it's an interesting decision none the less as it harkens back to what Harada mentioned about Tekken X Street Fighters ages ago. So what do you think of the changes, an improvement or worse off? Images are all taken from olololkitty's tumblr page.

Nina looks alot better in revolution, that isn't a particularly good shot of her facial changes. Maybe could be argued they look a bit doll like but it's a damn site better than the manly faces the Williams sisters have in TTT2, hell has anyone else noticed nina also have arms JCVD would of been proud of in his time in TTT2...

Anyone who thinks those changes were an improvement has to be pretty fucking crazy. Christie's face is the worst.

I go with Kuni, just because she wears that mask I can't see the horrors they did to her.

They shouldve used the cutscene models instead...

Haha TR Christie is probably RIP crossdressing as her. XD

TTT2 > TR. The faces in Tekken Tag are more realistic and more interesting. They look shopped and doll like in Tekken Revolution, Vaseline smeared all over the lens.

In some ways, the detail and lighting is improved, but overall the loss in realism is not only disturbing and offensive, it's much less interesting. The more rooted in reality Tekken is, the greater it becomes. The character design, voice acting, motion capture, and yes even the skin textures and character faces all contribute this.

I've been rigging game models for a while now and let me just say that TTT2 models have more detail in them while TR are simple to compensate for space (game is still digital download) You knw kinda like PS3 to PSP thing

@somedude

Wow, nice comparison pictures. I thought T6 had actually the prettiest Nina face but after seeing this I will have to reconsider, haha.

Still, none of her three faces look actually right. I'm thinking that maybe if they put TTT2 Nina's eyes on TR Nina's face they may get it right, but I'm purely speculating on that.

What's next, a young maid. Oh wait, wrong game, but tekken is probably headed in that direction. Good Job harada. The moe people and perverts love where you're taking the game.

According to the screen caps Catlord has just posted on the TR board of TZ, looks like Jun has actually escaped this grim fate.

TR faces are all wrong but they look good :) I prefer realistic faces of TT2. Nina doesn't look manly I mean it is CGI problem she is a fighter and assasin not a striptease. And all the women on earth aren't pretty and beautiful. Many don't even use make up.

Christie looks so much better in TR than in TTT2 IMO. The comparison clearly shows her TTT2 version has a longer, skinnier face with rougher features and small eyes. Her TR version's rounder and more feminine with bigger eyes (not anime). She's my main so even though I had TTT2 already I wanted a hot Christie and was prepared to go through the potential 7 month grind to unlock her. Fortunately she was my 3rd character unlock. Too bad it'll still take that long to unlock Eliza since I won't be buying premium coins.

Anyways, I think Nina looks a lot better in TR as well. All the rest look a bit better in TR too except for Alisa and Leo. Alisa looks better in TTT2 and Leo looks the same in both.

I agree with the fact that under 19 year olds prefer TR faces because of stupid anime. But they do look horrible and have even lower textures to begin with. Nina, Christie and Lili particular. At first i wasnt fond of Ninas muscular body in TTT2 but its better than that Tekken 6 scarecrow, and over the time i started to love it. (Consider her Tekken 4 look still best) With Lili i didnt like the TTT2 hair & wider nose. But still better than in TR with that disgusting barbie look. (Tekken 6 Lili was best) And Christie (not much to say there you, have to be blind or dumb to prefer TR look over TTT2) I hope it will only be seen in TR. Or Namco should really consider hiring new model creators in future sequels. Still cant believe how some consider these superior over TTT2...

I don't like the way they filed the teeth down for most of the female characters in TR. All the male characters and Kunimitsu (basically left unchanged) still have detail in their teeth. Why do that? Christie, Nina and Lili's revamped faces just look so wrong. TT2 Nina does not look like a man. In the real world some women have very defined features, deal with it.
