hey neels you bring up alot of good points i see where your coming from. Lets just hope for Fighting Games in general that this game is successful and that the VF community gets its recognition bc VF should be at Evo.. I think the last Evo VF was in 2002 with VF 4: Evolution so its time for Sega to stand up!

VF is too hard for noobs to learn. It will never get huge because of that. Sad because the game owns

It was too hard before but VF has been getting easier and easier recently. In terms of single player VF4:Evolution is the ultimate blueprint to follow and that would help provide understanding of the mechanics, Soul Blade and MK9 have been the best when it comes to modes for the casual player. Loved those Soul Blade single player modes.

VF5 was the last one at Evo in 2007. You can see in that interview with Nukki I posted.

I remember playing the first Vitual Fighter. Amazing experience!!! Tekken came out and I wasn't feeling it. It just didn't have the power to pull me away from Capcom fighters, Killer Instinct, or MK. Tekken 2's roster was so stupid large and odd with animals and shit that you couldn't help but go and play it. Who was doing 3D animals? LMAO!!! Good shit Namco! Virtual Fighter 2 and 3 went by without me paying hardly any attention to it. Then came Virtual Fighter 4 on console! WOW!!! That training mode made me realize that this is the best fighting game on earth. What I mean by best fighting game is..... depth, sense of reward for dedication to training, and the general pace of the game. Ring outs are so refreshing!!!! It adds another dimension that is needed in more fighting games. Tekken 5 was out on console at the time and I was completely drawn away from by this amazing revelation of depth in VF4. Unfortunately, not all people appreciate depth. Plenty people won't have the drive to train. Loads of people will say fuck it just because muscle memory tells them that guard is to hold back in all the fighting games they play. Less people will mean you will have less opportunity to reap the rewards of the time you spent training. In virtual fighter 4, I didn't give a fuck because that training mode was just so much fun. So, now I'm in Japan. Got a shitload o'competition, but I still haven't been playing Virtual Fighter 5 FS since it has been in the arcades. Sitting next to Tekken 6 BR, it's a difficult sell. BUT, once it's released on console. I will play it plenty because I'll have a training mode, which will give me access to combos, movelists, evading training, and plenty other things. Hopefully Sega hooks their training mode up nicely to draw in new players. Most importantly though, I'll be playing it plenty because I know "I'll have plenty of competition when I go to the arcade". That has nothing to do with a bandwagon thought process. It has to do with me and my valuable time that I don't want wasted on training for a "fighting" game that no one plays. This is not a Final Fight or Scenario Campaign side scroller fighting game that's entertaining playing by one's self. Fuck a best time and highest score fighting game. I haven't played time attack on tekken since tekken 3. I'm about punching and kicking in your face in "to the white meat" fighting game ya dig? Til' the referee gotta jump in and stop the fight ya understand? Human comp. is the only way to go. Tekken don't have referees, but maybe they should think about adding them for the between round animations. If after a KO, you keep attacking your opponent, you get a 10 point damage penalty for the next round. It would put some value to that end of round attack. Then, when you win the match they give you 10 seconds to beat the shit out of your opponent's lifeless body.......but only of you took the after round penalty before. I don't care who opposes that idea... that hot!!!

It's been brought up on here how much data a player new to Tekken has to learn in order to compete. There really is a lot and that can be daunting. TTT2 looks like it'll increase that still further with even more characters/moves and more ways to combo. This was a point Sega brought up in their blog during development of VF5FS. They attempted to homegenise some of the commands and cut down on unimportant moves and replace others with new moves. Ultimately I think they want everything on a characters command list to applicable at competitive levels.

Whether they've actually achived this or not I don't know yet but it's quite a risky thing to do. You can end losing what made a character good or interesting. Personally I like to have large movesets but can see the issues that might cause to a new player.

Anyways, if VF got covered by ATP in many articles on this site, it would be great. I very much enjoy watching VF.

A tutorial on what to do to defend in VF would be good because that is my biggest weakness. Hold G to guard does not do enough. I remember someone saying that low punches are good for defense?

Sorry to bring this, but Da Law seems for me like he is mentally retarded.
