Soul Calibur 5 Gameplay Information From Comic Con
BY Aris ON Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 9:22AM
Though we have seen the game a few times now, there is still very little known about the gameplay. In this video you will get some small glimpses at the new gameplay features and get an idea of the direction in which they want to take the series. To be honest I haven't made a decision on what I think of the game so far. Hopefully they will have a playable build at EVO so I can try it out. Check out the video below.

There's a bunch of info on 8wayrun.com on what we know so far about the game, which has now lead into a discussion with WCMaxi on gameplay and the problems the older games have in comparison to SC1/SC2.
I'm not expecting SC5 to be playable at EVO but I hope it is so that people get their hands on the game and provide feedback on the gameplay, so we'll see.
looks far to similar to the previous games for my taste, I think they need to re-envision this series for a proper reboot.
It's a sequel, nothing more. There's a lot of changes (17 years in the future and whatever), I'll give you that much. But as you can see it's still very much like the old games. Also, if you are judging on graphics, SC5 is being created on current gen hardware. SC4 was already pushing the 360 and PS3 graphics to their limits, so yeah, you are not going to get an amazing leap ahead graphically.
Chances are, if you don't like the series at all, you are not going to like SC5. Surprise..surprise.
Also remember that the game is still early in development, plus the focus is on gameplay right now which was the problem with the last two games. Also the game being set 17 years in the future is serving as the reboot unless you are expecting the game to not play like Soul Calibur.
LOOKS LIKE I PLAYED THIS IN 2008. SOUL CALIBUR GAMEPLAY SUCKS ASS
The introduction of a meter, quick step, brave edge, easier or more often critical finishes that, from the looks of it, do not always finish the round but still do good damage all look interesting.
I really enjoyed the Edge Master Mode in Soul Blade. I hope they bring that mode back. Considering how this game is set in the past, it gives the opportunity to have some really nice stories. HOWEVER, I think that Edge Master Mode should not be a required playthrough to unlock ANYTHING. I think the weapons should be unlocked in a different way. Edge Master Mode might be for me, but I think that the game will be more mainstream if you unlock weapons by just playing the regular game. Edge Master Mode should be like the Trials in Street Fighter 4 games. You can use it to get better, but it is not by any means required.
LOL, a "new" character, Pyrrha. Oookaay.
My initial reaction was "Eww, this game looks too much like Sould Calibur 3." But I gave it a chance, I watched the video, and I am interested in how the game turns out. If they want to make the game appeal to more people, they might want to change the look of the health bars to look like the health bars in Soul Calibur 2.
