More H.S. Dojo Character Breakdowns

FoxSteve has uploaded more character breakdowns. I find these to be good refreshers. When I watch them, they remind me of what to look for versus each character and how to approach them in tournament. Check out his Youtube channel HERE

Stupid Ling took long.

Very nicely done videos. However, take the answers to Ling Xiaoyu's attacks that leave her in stance or backturned with a grain of salt. The author does not take into account that:

RDS
1. Xiaoyu BT Punch Parry (RDS f+1+2) starts at frame 1 to frame 4 (i12 to i16 punch punishers on RDS f+3+4,3+4 are a no-no)
2. BT Parry (RDS 1+4) starts at frame 5 to frame ?

AOP
1. In AOP it takes Xiao 10 frames to stand up and block. However, she can escape many punishers for her AOP entering attacks with her AOP 1+3_2+4.
2. Xiaoyu can low crush out of AOP at frame 8 (meaning a generic d+4 punish on AOP u/f+3,1 which is -4 on block can be jumped).

A lot of numbers and things to test when breaking down Ling Xiaoyu, but she isn't Tekken's Houdini for nothing. Oh almost forgot, Xiao's b+1 is punishable if blocked.

Sup -

lol Steve, yeah Jesus Ling was a pain, thanks for not passing out on me bro.

@ Pixel - dood that is fucking Tier Information. Unfortunately there are no really knowledgeable Ling players in South Africa, our one and only OG Uncle is still learning with her. lol
Same thing goes for 90% of the other characters - most manz still just learning shit down here and I can't cover the cast by myself, so there are gonna be loads of gaps unfortunately.

I remember watching a match where Fab lost to LM because of the BT HandParry - it's very NB (nota bene). Could have been an MLG TeamBattle or regular match - was the MLG where GM went 10+ Straight Rounds up on Knee and Juie was skittle hot.

Still - the over all idea is not to get caught out by the 'Standard' 'Obvious' shit and to have an eye for the characters move list and animation, and I think we do capture quite a bit of that essence in the vid. ^_^

I've seen the name Pixel nuff times on the Bati Boards to know you're solid Ling calf muscle.

This is good shit - I'm gonna post your info in both of the Ling Vids 'Descriptions Sections' so that peeps that read up know it exists xn.

Yeah, good work Foxsteve. For those of us that don't get to play all the characters all the time, these breakdowns are pretty useful.

I would prefer just a long list or graph/chart with categories like can it be sidestepped left? Can t be sidestepped right? etc. Watching these videos is like watching paint dry. ^^

Thnx Stu - and thanks for helping us with this when you can bro.

Sup Forest,

Yeah I have to agree, the videos aren't exciting to watch. They are pretty much strictly for training and punishment purposes.

I also hear what you're saying with regard to a 'List' of available options to beat each move - that's perfectly fine to use - if you know what all of your opponents commands are and what they look like.

Unfortunately I recently had to vs DevilKazuya who was using Lars and Rude Boi who was using Lili @ DamaGermany. I have no Lars exp and about as much Lili knowledge.

Here's Rude Boi picking me apart with Lili for free in tournament @ Dama because I have no idea what the Char is doing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7-kQ24zxec

If you give me a list and just say "Lars 1+2 is -12F and you can SSR" - and I don't even know what the commands animations etc. look like - that list is pretty useless to me imo.
Have you ever gone into a character's Frame Data List that you don't know shit about and started reading their Frame Data, only to find you haven't got a fucking clue what you're reading? - I have. lol

Oddly enough, if I have a breakdown like this and I see Lars do a 1+2 and a giant ball of purple shit comes out of his hands, I tend to do a much better job at move/animation association and remember what I need to do.

The vid is boring if you're not in the frame of mind to make it interesting or worth your time.

For some reason though, when I know I'm about to face a solid player that is playing a character that's moves/strings/animations I haven't ever properly seen before - these little vids become pretty interesting and hold my attention quite well as I sneak off to the toilet before the fight to try and get an idea of wtf I'm up against and what I need to look out for. lol

I guess it's all about perspective, and how much prep you're willing to do to try and pull out the win.

PS: GRS and I capped the Lili BreakDown last night -
General Rule with Lili is the same as Lars.
SSR vs both of them and they are both 80% of the time either Jabs or -12 Punishable.

No more free wins for Rude Boi ^_^
