Kratos in Mortal Kombat? Give Me A Fucking Break.

According to the January issue of the official Playstation magazine, the PS3 version of the new Mortal Kombat will have Kratos as a playable character. This is terrible news in my opinion. I am not a fan of random characters thrown in fighting games to make money. Who knows what character they will have in the Xbox version. Donald Duck? or maybe Sonic the Hedgehog. Fucking stupid.

But yeah, agreed on the stupidity of console exclusive characters. At least with Soul Calibur they were timed exclusives..but with this..I cant see it going to both consoles at any point.
Well MK has never been a serious competitive game so I don't really find thhis news shocking. In the end, nobody is forcing you to play with these dumb characters.
Meh it seems a bit unesscessary IMO. The game already had good hype following it. Whatever. I wonder how brutal his fatalities are

Normally I would be against adding guest characters in fighting games, but I'm not going to play Mortal Kombat on a tournament level, so I think having Kratos is badass. He's only going to be available in versus mode and will pretty sure have some brutal fatalities, so I can't wait to see him live in game.
But with Ed Boon talking constantly about wanting to see his game at EVO, this was a dumbass move because now you just created a rift by adding console exclusive guest characters. Now the hardcore community has to figure out what console to use and whether the bonus characters will be allowed, along with alienating anyone who wants to use them in a tournament. Good luck with that.
And for a game that had so much hype going for it, they did not need to go the guest character route, but I'm sure it was done to get that money. That's what its about these days.
It is kind of whack, but I still want the game badly, and they have been talking lots of in depth talk and saying they have had the time and budget to make it tourney worthy. They said they want it to be a standard at evo and other reputable tournaments in the community.
Kratos was also in SC4 for the psp. Sony just loves pimping out their boy.

There's no issue with Kratos being in the game. The issues will come when running tournaments for MK since he's exclusive to only one console. So for a game that Ed Boon wants to see at EVO, this will be a whack move unless you make one console tournament standard from the jump.
Personally, I thought that the game was fine without the guest characters, but maybe they felt that they needed that something extra to get people into the game after years and years of releasing games that were straight up ass. We'll see how it all plays out.

Well actually supposedly he's to only be playable in Versus Mode and David Jaffe did confirm that he's in it via his Twitter but was removed. Now Cliff Bleszinski desires a Gears character in the Xbox 360 version-
"Clay Carmine for exclusive 360 character in the new MK would be an AWESOME contrast to Kratos."
Maybe they should put a Nissan Skyline from Gran Turismo in as a playable character. The game did not need this to sell copies.
How about a politcal figure? Obama VS Baraka...round 1...FIGHT! Here is a question: would Soul Calibur 2 have been as popular as it was without the extra characters? I personally think it would have been just as popular. But those extra things gave it more press coverage. I had lots of fun doing electrics with Heihachi in SC2, and hell sweeps on their downed body. Never played as Link or Spawn. But yeah, no more weird add-on characters in fighting games.
SC2 was very popular in the arcades before it ever came out on consoles but im 100% sure that these console characters help sales in a big way. Howerver as a competative player i just dont like them.
This shit sells copies of the game. Who fucking cares. I hope Namco puts n8monster in TTT2 so I can have a Gon/n8monster team.

@Aris yeah i'm hoping it's just a sick joke someone is pulling on us. Marcus Phoenix would be cool in a MK game and also Tekken since him and Bryan Fury are kinda similar
The bonus character for the Xbox version better not be Master Chief.
