TTT2 - Character Rankings and Data from TekkenBBS

Contains character, punishers, juggle damage rankings and some more data which are used to help out in creating tier lists. I've also added advice from Nobi on stepping characters into this piece so be sure to check it all out below. Feel free to correct any mistranslations or errors in the comments.

Players in Japan that have at one point made it to the Tekken Lord rank (30th Dan):

2 people:
Lars (Nobi, Nishi)
Bob (Burimaru, Genkids)
Feng (Yuu, Nishi)
Miguel (AO, Hepoken)
Dragunov (Nobi, Furumizu)
Lei (Furumizu, Chabashira)
Bryan (Burimaru, B K C)
Leo (Yuu, Genkids)

1 person
Devil Jin (Deku)
Heihachi (Deku)
Kazuya (Puuchan)
Ganryu (Piichan)
Alisa (AO)
Hwoarang (Nashi)
Baek (Nashi)
Marduk (Hepoken)
Bruce (B K C)
JACK (Kagemaru)
Lee (Chabashira)

No Nina, Armor King, Jinpachi, Steve, Jaycee, Eddy/Christie, Paul, Jin, Asuka, Anna, Xiaoyu, Law, Lili, Zafina, King, Ogre, Jun, Kuma/Panda, Yoshimitsu, Wang, Raven, Roger Jr players to reach the rank yet.

Extra, Nobi's thoughts on sidestepping characters that he explained over on his live broadcastings. It also contains some general character advice. Thanks goes to Yuuki for documenting the information down. Again, apologies for any translation errors, the terminology used can be a bit tricky to make out and is more difficult to translate compared to just character names.

Armor King: In short range sidewalk right, from middle distances step right then duck.
Asuka: Tends to vary by person but Nobi usually steps right. (watch out for homing moves however) From middle distances stepping is unnecessary unless for stage positional purposes.
Alisa: Left. It's recommended to space her out and poke. Mentions a third hit homing attack in which you should duck the second hit. (I'm not sure what attack he's reffering to, maybe some Alisa player can chime in)
Anna: Left. Heading left then ducking is OK.
Ogre: Either direction is OK.  What you really want to do though is to stay up close and keep an offense.
Kazuya: Left.
Christie/Eddy: Right.
Ganryu: In short distance, right. In middle distances, not necessary. Watch for homing moves.
King: Sidewalk right. Be wary of strong homing and long ranged attacks.
Kunimitsu: Right.
Kuma・Panda: Right. Says to watch out for d/b+2 and ws+3 homing attack. (especially near the wall)
Zafina: Short distances, left. Not necessary in middle ranges.
Jaycee: Right. Middle distances head right then quickly duck.
Jin: In short distances sidewalk right. In middle distances step right.
Jinpachi: Short distances left. Middle distances right.
Xiaoyu: Mostly left.
JACK: Left, to avoid those long range attacks.
Jun: Minute perception neccessary. (haha) Watch for strings and know when to duck in them.
Steve: Don't step too much, you'll want to focus on backdashing. His stances and attacks that track will get in the way.
Devil Jin: Left.
Dragunov: Short distances, head right then duck. Middle distances, left.
Nina: Having played against Shou, right. Says she's only really got d/b+3 to hit you with.
Hwoarang: 'Standardly' right. Build space between you and the opponent If he gets into Flamingo stance. If you can't, head left in low high mixup situations.
Feng: Short distances, left. Middle distances, right.
Forest: Right.
Bryan: Short distances, right. Middle distances, not necessary. Important to look out for b+1 and moves with fast startup like qcb+3
Bruce: 'Standardly' left.
Heihachi: Left.
Baek: Left.
Paul: Strongly right. Watch out for strong homing attacks, especially the ones after his d/f+1 when stepping.
Bob: Short distances right, middle distances left.
Marduk: Right. Recommends attacking him from his right side. Beware of his d/f+1 when stepping to his left side.
Miguel: Left. Even If he is in stance.
Michelle: Right. In middle distances head right then quickly duck.
Yoshimitsu: Uncertain.
Lars: Short distance, sidewalk right. Middle distances, step right.
Lee: Left.
Lili: Sidewalk left. In middle distances watch out for d/f+3+4.
Lei: Short distances, left. Watch for long ranged leg attacks though in middle distances.
Raven: Short distances, sidewalk left. Not neccessary in middle ranges.
Leo: Sidewalk left. Actively look out for her stance changes and try to intercept. Homing attack precaution too.
Law: Right. Watch out for homing moves though.
Roger Jr.: Right. Not necessary in middle ranges.
Wang: Left. Recommended to backdash though since Wang has low reach.

Aris out here takin' credit for FlyingWonkey's work lmao. When it comes to SSing it is smart to do what you think is best, but having a general guideline never hurts. Means you have to do less work.

Awesome post, thanks Aris!

when he says "not necessary" to step at certain ranges, what does this mean? not necessary to sidestep, or direction is not important?

Since when is Zafina's 1,3 12f? Also her 1,4 does more dmg and are both at 10f.

Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 1:33 PM | Unregistered CommenterRezz

There's something wrong in the punishers' list. Zafina's highest damaging 10f punisher is 1,4, which does 29 damage.

Also, glad to see "Yoshimitsu: Uncertain". It's a bummer how DLC characters aren't included, though.

@ricky

About the Hwoarang FLS thing. It says "LFS 1, 2,4", not "LFS 1,2,4". This is a common mistake in everyday notation, not to consider spaces, which make the distinction in separated commands or built in attacks in strings.

"LFS 1, 2,4" means you do LFS 1 and then you do LFF 2,4. There is no, as you say, LFS 1,2,4.

I think Alisa's backdash should be ranked higher. Her backdash is pretty good.
