TTT2 Will Use a Modified Version of SC5's Net Code
Along with the rest of the TTT2 related news this week, in an interview with VideoGamer, Katruhiro Harada said that SC5's net code handles three to five times the data that the Street Fighter 4 series net-code handled. For this reason, the console version of TTT2 will use a modified version of this net code. I'm generally very sceptical when it comes to online fighting game performance but I'm still interested in how things turn out.
"The netcode for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 supports three to five times as much data as Street Fighter IV, according to Katsuhiro Harada.
The Tekken director revealed that he's been discussing the issue of online performance with Street Fighter guru Yoshinori Ono. Capcom and Ono recently released Street Fighter X Tekken, while Harada's Tekken X Street Fighter will presumably be his next release after Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Harada added that the game will use a modified version of the netcode used in Soul Calibur V.
"As you're aware, Soul Calibur V came out recently. I think everyone was pretty surprised and happy with that. We're basically going to be borrowing the system. Our technologists have really done a good job on doing more data compression techniques, they've helped out with that.
"I think people will be pleasantly surprised."
