EVO Tournament Lineup Suggests SC5 is the 3D Fighting Game to Play

For years now, Evolution has dictated which games would be considered main stream fighting games. The EVO staff has recently announced which fighting games would be included in their tournament lineup this year. As many of us expected, Tekken did not make the cut. However, Soul Calibur 5 did. Soon after this announcement, it was also announced that Namco will be adding pot bonuses and support for some of the EVO qualifier tournaments. This info makes me think that Tekken will take the back burner for the rest of the year and SC5 will be the 3D game to play. I'm a fan of both games and I sincerely hope that SC5 turns out to be a great game. I will do my best to cover both Tekken and Soul Calibur in the coming months. On the topic of streaming. As I mentioned before, we were not given official permission to stream TTT2 during the location test at Super Arcade. We will however be streaming SC5 tournaments when the game is released. Thanks for your continued support.

Honestly this is just the logical decision. Tekken 6 is winding down and after the abysmal top 8 last year it's a no brainer for the evo staff.

Namco obviously also wants to promote their new console fighter, and Tekken still has somewhat of a presence with Sfxtekken

Tekken will get love again next year if we have a ttt2 console release...
